Progressive Dinner

The Relief Society hosted a Progressive Dinner activity at the church on Thursday, Nov 12. Decorations for the rooms was so creative.

The YW rooms transformed into a Gingerbread House complete with candles in the windows and gumdrops framing the doors.

In past years we've had the dinner at homes of individuals, moving from house to house for each course. With unstable footing traveling between houses, this year we opted to use the Stake Center and go from room to room. It was so much fun! There'll be more pictures and more details posted on Lyman Ward's blog in the next few days. Thank you to everyone who made this evening so special!

Sis. Chieko Okazaki Visiting SJ

Sister Okazaki will be speaking in St. Johns! In person, not a broadcast!!! I am so excited, so looking forward to this special event in Relief Society. There will also be a Fireside on Sunday evening. For more details click Lyman Ward link at top right of this page. The weekend of 28, 29 would be a great time for all women with ties to St. Johns to come home for a visit ... what a wonderful opportunity to hear an important message.

New Calling

Today was both exciting and somewhat overwhelming. I was called to be President of the Lyman Ward Relief Society and was set-apart for that calling at church today. The counsellors who will be working with me in this presidency are amazing ladies and it is an honor that they will continue to serve in those positions as both of them still have children at home so the time committment is a huge sacrifice. I am especially excited about the new secretary, too. She is a young mother with little ones at home so she'll bring a youthful perspective to our meetings. She is so eager to learn her responsibilities and help the sisters in our ward. I am so pumped, so excited to work with these ladies!

Quentin and Felicia were able to travel up for the weekend and it was good to have them here - they even assembled a cheesecake! I always enjoy spending time with Quentin and I am enjoying getting to know Felicia better ... she is a spunky little gal!

Long Days

I am so glad Jacob was able to come up for Loretta Crosby's funeral. It was so good to visit with him for a while last night. I'm sure he didn't appreciate too much that I started dozing off while we were talking. It's been a couple of long days.

Today was a long day, too. Today was Loretta Crosby's funeral. There were a lot of people in attendance, and a lot of food. The RS Sisters put in a long day, some will still be working away long after this post is made. Thank you Terry J for doing the table cloths! There were dozens and dozens of sisters who helped with food and preparations for the funeral and luncheon. It still amazes me that so many come together and work so hard to make things go smoothly for the family on such a difficult day. I am so proud of the ladies in our ward. They really are jewels.

It was hard seeing Loretta in a casket although she looked amazingly at peace. She had just a hint of a smile. I know that my friend has started a new journey - a journey she has been looking forward to taking. I'm just a bit sad that she's already gone. I'll miss her.

Jacob has headed home. I'll miss him, too.
