Memorial Day

I love that our scouts set out flags for holidays...and especially that they display flags for Memorial Day and Flag Day. My heart swells with pride seeing the flag wave in a breeze and when the entire neighborhood has a flag in the yards, it just brings a smile...then quiet reflection.

I am so grateful to those who serve our nation; to their families and their friends. Those who have given their all to serve are owed a debt of remembrance and respect. I am grateful we have this day to honor their service, and their sacrifice. I am grateful for the freedoms we enjoy and the opportunities available to us as U. S. citizens.

I love the red, white, and blue!

Skatepark

It's awesome. But sad too. There is a wonderful skatepark going in adjacent to the ballfield and equestrian arena. It is looking good - there is a bowl and a good-size ramped area (don't know actual names) and I know young people are going to love having this new facility. I know of some young people who would have loved having that around when they were kids growing up in our town!

Don't Want To Forget...

Saturday morning, on the way to the temple, I saw an eagle! A bald eagle even...white tail feathers and white head. I've seen eagles before but not a bald in that area. They're typically closer to waterways. This one was near the main intersection in town, soaring somewhat low...or maybe I saw him shortly after leaving a nest in one of the many tall trees lining the highway through there. It was an amazing scene! I was so excited! Excited to see the eagle and excited to be visiting the temple and excited to share a special day with Christy and Bill. Congrats!

I also don't want to forget how much I appreciate the jammies Jacob and Marie sent to me. They are so comfy and so soft and so roomy, I just love them! Thank you. :)

New Home

Can you say excited? These little girls are so excited to be moving into their own home and having their own rooms! And we are so excited for them!

These are the new trundle beds (new for them) for their rooms. We lucked out on this purchase! Jodie just happened to log onto Craig's List and an ad had been placed shortly before. Someone in Lakeside was selling two complete trundle bed sets at an attractive price. Mike and I stopped by to see the beds and the lady said she had kept them for Jodie to check out first-she had many other calls about them. I'm so glad we were able to go by soon-the beds are so nice!

The dollhouse now has a new home-out of our living room. :)

Still lots of toys and odds and ends to get sorted!

Mia in her new room-the other bedroom pics were in TJei's room.

The trundles will work out nice when they have friends stay over. :)

The kitcken is compact but efficient...even a dishwasher! Don't I wish?????? No microwave though. :(

The living room is good-sized although a bit sparse right now.

I am really glad Jodie and the girls have been able to get into this place. There is plenty of room and lots of storage. There is a little playground in the complex and it has benches so an adult can stay with the girls while they play. They need to be in their own place. We needed that.

Remembering

This is a special day...the anniversary of Billie's birth. Although she's been gone nearly 20 years, she is still in my heart and my thoughts.

Billie was an amazingly fun lady. She loved to play board games and card games. She loved to camp and participate in all the activities associated with camping whether it be riding three-wheelers (didn't have quads back then, she really would have loved them) and cruising around in the boat if we happened to be camping at a lake. She didn't like being in the water but she did like being on the water.

Billie would be so proud of all her grandchildren. She would be especially proud of Ryan being on a mission and that three others have served honorable missions. She would be proud of the young women her granddaughters have become. And she would be so happy to be a great-grandmother!

Billie would be heartbroken at some of the changes within her family, too. She enjoyed large family gatherings and especially the reunions. Those don't really happen anymore, at least not with all the family getting together.

You are missed, Billie. You are loved. Remembering you on your special day.

Caught in the Middle

This is such a nightmare! It has been going on for months, at a time when Mike and I certainly didn't need any additional stress in our lives. My heart is being torn apart and there is nothing I can say or do to resolve things, but I pay the price for what others have said and done. I am caught in the middle and I hurt so very, very much.

During all these weeks, months in fact, that Mike has been enduring these medical trials and I have done all I could to keep both of us going in the right direction, there has been another trial going on behind the scenes. Something neither of us has had control, or even input really. Still we, or more specifically me, bears the brunt of the angst over the matter.

When Mike first took ill back in January, I was in New Zealand. At that time, John and Jodie ended up in a confrontation with one another. A power struggle of sorts as far as I can determine. Jodie was convenient for Mike to reach out to when he needed help. She was there in town. He went to her place and asked her to take him to the hospital. That's where it all started...each felt the other was/wasn't doing what they should or communicating as well as they should. Hateful things were said. One to another, one about another. There is history with them, and things got much worse. I got a call in New Zealand from one of them demanding that I make the other apologize. What? You two need to work this out and not involve me, but no; it can't go down that smoothly.

Instead, at different times I get to hear it, YOU didn't make that apology happen. But, I can't make someone else do something. Doesn't matter. YOU must do that or else.

Within days of being asked about what had happened, Jodie went off in a tirade and shut off contact with me and wouldn't allow me to have contact with the girls. She went to the school and raised cane again. She did so last year too when she got mad at me over some trivial matter. When Mike and I traveled to Show Low to see his surgeon on May 3rd. she wouldn't let either of us see Mia (TJei was at school) when we went to SJ for mail.

Jodie would call and talk to her dad...I was the outcast during all of this. My heart has broken so many times over all of it. I have been excluded from the girls' dance recitals and all their activities. Mike wouldn't have been able to attend because of his hospitalization but I would have made every effort to attend and to get pictures for sharing with Mike as I retold him of the activities. I am just supposed to overlook having been such an important part of their lives as an actively involved grandmother.

John has found ways to mention, YOU didn't make her apologize, often over the passing months. Again, there is nothing I can do to make someone else do something.

In a casual conversation with Kelly shortly before Ashlee's first birthday celebration, I asked Kelly, "Did you mention the party to Jodie?" Talk about a mistake! I didn't know it at the time...although I did feel like uh, that wasn't a good thing to mention, when Kelly came back with comments about John saying Jodie was not welcome at their house and that John said Jodie had to apologize to her. Then, an even bigger blunder as I said, "I think it's out of line for John to insist on an apology when he isn't willing to apologize for what he said to her."

It's that bad momma in me, I guess. Wanting each of them to take responsibility for what they EACH did and not just blame one another for what happened.

I was in Jacob's vehicle, with him and his two little ones, during this call. After talking with Kelly, my phone rang again. It was John. He wanted to know why I had demanded, through Kelly, for him to apologize to Jodie. That isn't what I said. I told him what I said, "I think John shouldn't insist on an apology when he isn't willing to apologize for what he said." John went off on me. I got louder as I tried to stop him from going off. Jacob was telling me to hang up, his kids didn't need to hear any of that. Jacob took the phone and hung up the call.

John called back and left a voicemail message...a hateful, vicious message telling me that I was not to contact his home and I was not to call or send messages to his wife. ---Let's be perfectly clear here: I have never sent ANY questionable messages to Kelly, or John for that matter. He was just re-emphasising his rant from a while back...the twelve messages I sent during a month had cost him a whopping $1.20 and he had to pay his own bill instead of us paying his bill. ---His way of making a dig at the fact we were doing anything to help someone else in the family.

I was devastated to hear his words, to hear that anger and contempt coming from him. I am still shattered by his words.

When the day came for Ashlee's party, I decided to go to his house in spite of all that had happened. I just figured I'd leave if anything came up. John didn't say a word to me during my visit. Not a single word. I could tell he was not pleased about me being there. Before I left, Kelly gave me a Mother's Day card. I cried. I always cry over something sentimental. This time I cried from the pain. His name was on the card but it was so evident he was not part of the card-giving.

This past Saturday I called John and Kelly. I had made a little photo album of birthday party pictures for Ashlee...like I've done in the past. John answered the phone, "You've called the wrong number." What? Are you serious John, you don't want me calling your home. "That's right, Don't call here."

There just aren't words to describe the pain and anguish.

I hurt so bad.

In The Morning

Davis was enjoying Grandpa's struggles to get shoes on him...

And sweet little Daphne was dazzling in her yellow shirt and blue jean skirt. I love her flower headband!

Her shoes didn't stay on long though! :P

Grandpa introduced TJei to jumping rope and she has a new fascination now. He had the rope tied onto the back of his pick-up truck parked in Jacob's driveway.

TJei did her lion impersonation to emphasize the fact she didn't want to leave.

Mia wanted to stay, too. She was so sad to leave her little cousins. :(

What a poser! (Love you T)

Binky Battle

This is just a few seconds of the ongoing battle of the binky between these two litte ones. It's espcially funny to realize they are only six months old (Daphne) and eight months old (Jayden).

In the background sounds, TJei and Davis were wrestling around and climbing on Uncle Quentin. They banged heads, that's when Maria intervened with no more.

Playing Together

Mike and I spent the evening visiting at Jacob and Maria's home and enjoyed our time with them and with the children. Quentin and Felicia came over with Jayden and we had TJei and Mia with us.

Look at that gaze! Daphne has piercing blue eyes and a poker face; it's hard to read what she may be thinking! :)

While looking through pictures recently, I couldn't help but notice there are several pictuures of Mia holding or otherwise engaging one of her younger cousins...she loves these little ones so very much! We love you too, Mia.

Felicia shares a laugh with Jayden but it looks like Jayden isn't real sure on the matter.

The two little ones before the ensuing Binkie Battle.

Grandpa consoled Daphne with a well-deserved real bottle after the battle of the binkies.

Davis had a good time wobbling around on a pair of Aubrey's little play heels left at their house. He looks so cute in his little whale jammies and high heels. Just goes ot show, he'd be cute in anything! :)

Play Day

We went to a park for a couple hours and the girls had a super time! I loved this particular park because nearly all the playground was shaded by canopies. It was nice to not be blistered by the sun! :)

The little girls gained confidence climbing the rock wall with John standing nearby to support and encourage them. Eventually they scaled the wall with no assistance at all. It was fun watching them go from apprehension to accomplishment.

The swings were a popular destination for the girls, too!

I love watching the girls as they play. Even as they vie for one activity or another, so much of their personality comes through. Each of them display a sense of fairness, taking turns and helping one another. Each of them display leadership skills-so very important in today's world, and they also display an ability to be subordinate-to allow someone else to take charge without being subdued.

I just love these litte girls. They have so many skills, so much love. The future is theirs and it will be so exciting to see how they shape it.

Totally Precious

Our newest little princess came home from the hospital today. She is just precious and looks much smaller than her 8+ pounds (she lost some after being born). It was so good to be there and welcome her home. :)

Love That Smile!

Not much else to say...that smile can stop you in your tracks! I love you, Davis and I love your beautiful smile. You are such a fun litte boy. :)

Jayden

Maria invited all of us to her house Monday evening for dinner. I'm sure she wondered, "Why did I do that?" a couple times throughout the evening. It was hectic with all those little kids together, but so many good laughs, too.

Jayden has grown so much. She is sitting up and doing many things typical for an eight month old but so far has no interest at all in crawling around. She is content to remain stationary and access whatever may be within arms reach. :)

LOL Jayden has this Elvis lip-twitch thing going on at times. It is so cute, I probably have a dozen pictures of her at different times with that little curl to her lip.

Baylee was so sweet all evening. She played with the babies and was so loving with them. When we left, I told Baylee I was really proud of her, she was such a good girl while we visited. She turned to me and said, "I didn't bite Davis." Yes, she was a good girl. :) Oh, I love that girl.

I love all these girls, and the boy, too!
