It has been yet another tumultuous week culminating today with me being on the receiving end of a "She is never to step foot on this property" rant and poor Mia believing she has to take everything important to her for protection, to keep it from being destroyed while she is gone to school this afternoon. My big offense? Pulling up to the house so I could give Mia a ride to school, at her request. Mia didn't make it to school this morning. She didn't have breakfast, she didn't have clean clothes, and she didn't have anyone to help or encourage her to get ready for school.
So, she called on Grandma. I offered to take her a chili dog, she wanted a chili dog Mia style: chili and cheese on a bun, no dog. I made the chili bun for her and located a clean shirt that would fit her then went to pick her up. Mia came running out the door carrying an armload of things with her.
I asked what on earth she was doing and she told me she had to take that stuff or her mom was going to tear it all up. I asked about her backpack for school, she ran back into the house to get it. That's when the screaming started. As she ran back to the truck with her backpack, her mom came to the door screaming and yelling about me, about her, about anything and everything. It was horrible, and so embarrassing. At least one neighbor was outdoors but others could have heard even inside their homes.
Mia cried on the way to school. My heart broke for her. It. is. so. hard.
