Stopped for a Visit

Yesterday, between a day-long quilting activity, taking dinner to a new family in our ward, and spending the evening at the cannery, I stopped to visit the dad of a good friend of mine.

Bro. Tillman lives with his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Jim Fowler, except, Jim and Renee have been in Alaska since ... well, for a long, long time.

When I drove past their house, Bro. Tillman was sitting on the porch and he waved. I made a u-turn and returned to their home so I could visit for a little while. Reneee had mentioned recently that her dad wasn't feeling real well. I'd asked others to check on him but I hadn't yet gone by to check for myself.

We had a wonderful visit! Although he has friends and family who routinely visit and stay in touch with him, it seemed he enjoyed our little visit together, too. He showed me the saddle blanket that had recently been given to him - a saddle blanket designed and used by the Babbitt Family on their ranches. Bro. Tillman had worked on the ranch most of his adult life. That is where Renee grew up. He is quite proud that he was remembered and given one of the original saddle blankets. It's a beauty!

Bro. Tillman is traveling to Alaska to visit Jim and Renee next month. He'll be flying out of AlbQ since it is about $100 cheaper than flying out from Phoenix. LOL He'll leave AlbQ and go to Phoenix then on to Alaska but it's $100 cheaper to do the AlbQ leg first instead of directly from Phoenix! Too funny.

Renee, your dad is looking chipper, he's in good spirits and looking forward to visiting you soon. :-)
