Jury Duty

This has been interesting. I've been called for jury duty before; here in Apache County. This is the first time I've been called for jury duty in the federal court - Prescott, Arizona.

Procedures are a bit different on the federal level. I've nearly been cited already for forgetfullness ... I forgot to return the juror questionaire. They sent me a nasty-gram telling me to get my poo-poo in perspective, or else. I used the do it now response of logging on to the court website and completing the questionaire online. What a shock, even for this Internet geek! I typed my last name and designated juror number into the form and clicked the submit button ... the next screen pops up with all my personal information including birthdate and everything. It seems the only thing missing was the name of my future grandchild! I'm sure that's just because Jacob and Maria haven't made a hard and fast decision on the name yet.

After completing the online questionaire I was instructed to phone in to an automated system at the court to find out if I will be called to jury duty the following week. I have been summoned to serve the month of May which means each Friday evening I must call in to learn whether I must report on Monday. Thoughts of jury duty just escaped me while attending a family reunion dinner in Mesa last Friday evening. I didn't call in until Sunday. Fortunately, I had not been selected to serve this week. I am stressing now to remember to call on Friday evening again. Maybe having a blog post will help remind me. :-)
