One thing is certain (in my experience) ... as a person ages, it is much harder to shed unwanted pounds! I have an abundance of excess weight that I'd sure like to shed. I just haven't.
Okay, so maybe I don't work hard enough at it. I read about Jacob peddling his butt around town (bicycling) but that really isn't for me. I haven't rode a bike in years and it would probably be an expensive medical follow-up if I tried to now!
Jacob has also blogged about Maria walking - long walks. And he's also talked about the two of them playing racquetball regularly. I used to take long walks, back when I was able to take long walks. I didn't like it then, my feet would hurt so bad. I'd like it far less now! I learned a long time ago racquetball wasn't for me, either. Way back in the day, Mike and I used to try racquetball. He loved to play ... I injured myself (seriously) both of the two times I was preparing to play. On one occasion, I turned my ankle and fractured it while warming up on the concrete pad outside the courts. It wasn't fun navigating a vehicle, five months pregnant, with a cast on my right leg. :-( On the other occasion, I injured myself while lobbing the ball against the back wall --- waiting for all the other players to get ready to play. As old age will do at times like this, neither Mike nor I can remember just what it was that I did to injure myself - only that I was injured to the point of leaving the court before start of play. Racquetball just isn't my thing.
Kelly has a workout routine that is merciless. There is no way I could go any distance on a treadmill, go for a couple mile jog, consume the volume of water she drinks, or go to a gym for a real work-out. That would be such an embarrassment - not for me especially, but for all those others at the gym! It works for Kelly - you go girl! I'd just as soon drop off the edge of the Grand Canyon. Well, okay, that may be just a bit extreme ... I couldn't even do the bridge at the canyon, not alone go off the edge!
I'm not sure whether John eats. He keeps his weight down but I kinda think it may be due to not slowing down enough to eat. Me? I'm rather partial to food. Lots of food. Okay, well, that doesn't sound quite the way I intended. I like a variety of food ... seafood, Chinese, Mexican, American, Japanese, Thai, German. For the most part, if it is meat or can accompany meat, I like it. Just not all together! Yuck. And not red and yellow together. Double yuck. (No catsup on eggs in my presence people. Please?)
When Scotty died in December, I bought a new skirt. A black skirt. Something suitable to wear for his funeral. I still wear the skirt, frequently; Sundays, I wear the skirt for church. As a usual, funeral clothes can also double as church clothes. At least for me. I noticed something different with the skirt last week when I returned from church. And, it still held true this Sunday. My black skirt doesn't quite fit right. It doesn't fit like it did a couple months ago. This week and last week, there was a bit of extra room in the waistband of the skirt. hmmm Maybe, just maybe there is a change underway. Then again, it could be my imagination. I wonder what I'll make for dinner.
