We had a pan of potatoes, in a foil pan, that needed to go into the trash but trash isn't picked up until Wednesday (today) so I didn't want it to go out to the can too early. Everyone knows, there are times the wind blows so hard here in SJ that trash cans get blown over and contents are strewn across the neighborhood and critters are able to get into the trash.
In fact, last week, our can just went away for a while. I even called Mike at work and asked if the bill had been paid thinking maybe they'd just kept the can when they dumped it earlier. The bill was paid, he had no idea where the can may have went off to. Hours later, we spotted the can wedged between the old travel trailer and the flat-bed trailer - apparently wedged there by someone in the neighborhood. It hadn't been there earlier so we've no idea really where it had gotten off to for a portion of the day (sight-seeing?).
Anyway, I didn't want the potatoes out there too early and I didn't want them in the can without being in a plastic bag. There wasn't room in the fridge to store them, I set them on top of the water cooler - up and out of the way.
Yesterday morning I noted the potatoes had been removed. I called Mike and asked him if he had tossed them out. That was an affirmative. I asked if he had put them into a trash bag. That was a negative. Said I, "Oh no, Mike, they'll make a mess of the can. We'll get maggots in there!"
His reply? "Did you call me to chew my butt?"
Well, kind of.
Well don't do it. Click
Later in the evening I heard Mike come in from work. I was indisposed at the time so didn't actually see him come into the house. I walked from the bathroom and turned the corner to head into the living room. Two scenes caught my eye about the same time. Mike was sitting on the couch in the living room *and* the pan of potatoes had reclaimed their spot on the cooler!
I laughed as I went into the living room. "Did you do that? Did you bring the potatoes in from the trash?"
He replied, "Yes, I did. You don't like the way I threw them away - do it yourself."
LOL I am seriously sitting here laughing so hard that I have tears. What a dumb fight! We have a tendency for finding the oddest things to fight about. The funniest part of the whole thing? About an hour later Mike started sacking up the trash, I saw the potatoes were gone again and ventured the courage to ask about them. They were inside the trash bag ... "that's where you wanted them, isn't it?"
Oh, I love you Mike - so very much! I hope all our disagreements are no bigger than this one. :-)
